Thank you for the comment, and I agree with you as well. It is not that Craigslist is inherently evil and causes these problems directly. It is just that their lack of concern or desire to put in more stringent safety controls allows predators to roam freely and take advantage of people that believe the system is safe in some way. The message is definitely to be leary and use as many safety features as you yourself can work into any transaction. NEVER rely on someone else to make the situation safe for you. If anyone does have concerns about a transaction they should post it here or in any other proper forum to be discussed in advance and get other peoples opinions before jumping in blindly. I am always striving to be an advocate for the uninformed, nothing more.

While I agree with the basic theme about what is being said in this article ( Being Safe)
With that said I do not agree to what you have said below ⇣⇣⇣

"If someone places an ad on Craigslist and wants to be paid in cash and will meet you somewhere to complete the deal, that is a recipe for disaster."

Case in point

I have completed more than 600 plus CASH transactions
thru CraigsList

In all my listings I state "CASH ONLY" As small a $20 sale up to a $3,750 sale

My largest sales have been long distance 2,000 miles away

It would be no exaggeration of the truth that 99% of the people I have met have been great . .very nice

C.L. has been a nice way for people to do business "face to face" once again

Just because some asks for "cash" is far from being suspect within it self

It is a shame that the CraigsList staff attitude and the policies of CraigsList totally suck. That they are very "self" serving That they really do not care much ,if at all about the every day user.

As for Katherine Ann Olson my deepest sorrows to her and her family

As far as the murder . . .it has nothing to do with CraigsList . . .it was just the platform the killer choose to work thru

He could have just as easily used the local newspaper, before the internet that was the norm

Thanks very much for that. Really pissed off because I had to pay $5.25 for a phone verified account and from 14 of my posts I have only ever seen about 5 of them. Thinking about using alternatives, although your tips are pretty good.

I'll bookmark :-)

Curious how you guys have managed to keep the site up w/o harrassment. I'm doing research on the 'other side' of craigslist, and haven't found much yet.

I post a lot on Craigslist on behalf of www.marketdrivemarketing.com and have started noticing even more aggressive tactics then simply ghosting.

They now are requiring a phone verification to post into the services areas and they require you to only post there through an account, no longer as a guest.

Many work-arounds will have to be developed.

Hi !
I m new on this site .
And I was new on Craigslist three weeks ago. First, I posted a message on the strictly platonic site and got an answer . Then, as wanted more opportunities of exchanges ( I am looking for pen pals in order to find a nice man who could become more than that in the future } I went on the 11th April on the W4M page. And I got a few replies.
Two days later, a message from Craigslist announced me that my posting had been flagged !? AND deleted !?
As I never used any rude words or pictures, I thought it was a mistake; So, I re-posted the same message in the morning.
Back from work , the same message and of course, my message removed .
i couldn t believe my eyes ! Who has the right to kick away people s adds ? and why the Craigslist staff are not checking if the people deserve to be flagged and coldly eradicate them?
i discovered the site after reading news about a man who had his house emptied by strangers after an add through the Craigslist.
I also checked other services of Craigslist and confess I was horrified by some explicit offers and photos in casual encounters in Paris !!! Have you seen them ? Check, my friend, you won t be disappointed And could find great stuff for you next article !
